Our Early History
Today, Atomic Cleaning Systems is known as a full-service cleaning equipment and wastewater management company. After years of dedicated service, we're a leading force in the cleaning and wastewater treatment industries in southeastern Michigan. How did we end up here? It all starts in 1957.
When we opened our doors, we were known as Atomic Steam Company. Our dealership sold and serviced steam cleaners. We were good at what we did, but as the industry shifted from steam cleaning to high-pressure water equipment and systems, we evolved as well. To keep up with the changing times, we rebranded as Atomic Cleaning Systems.

At Atomic Cleaning Systems, we've always worked hard to make sure our customers have the best equipment. Today, we offer several types of technology to clean up the waste stream by removing solids, hydrocarbons, oil, pesticides, organic material, and fertilizers.
To do this, we've invested in technology like bio-remediation, clarifiers, evaporation, oil-water separation, and clay absorption. This advanced equipment can reduce or eliminate waste hauling and control odors from the waste system.
The biggest shift in our business came in 1985. This is when the Federal Clean Water Act changed from cleaning up waste sites to regulating allowable discharge items. This launched a whole new industry of equipment to clean the water waste stream and stop environmental contamination at the source. At Atomic Cleaning Systems, we were at the forefront of change.
Change of Ownership to the Thompson Family
Looking to the Future
The company underwent an ownership change in March 2000. At this time, the old owner retired and sold the company to Eric and Robert Thompson. The Thompson family still leads the company today, and their leadership is imperative to what we do as a company.
Now, with our commitment to offering you the best products and the best service, we're an official Landa dealer with a full line of 200 different models of pressure washers, steam cleaners, cabinet parts washers, environmental equipment, and special industrial cleaning compounds.
